Producing is a very varied position on a show team that is very much essential at the same time. They are a combination of these three skills that allow for a show team to function efficently and to make sure people see the show:
The best thing to do is to keep your eye on the Bedlam/Bedlam Backstage pages to see if people need (assistant) producers. Asking people who are producing if you can assist them often also works.
Of course you can always propose something yourself, and make yourself a producer on the proposal!
If you’re on a proposal, your budget has to be checked over by the Business Manager before you can propose. If you’re on a show team, contact them if you have any changes to your budget, if you need any help with your budget, or if you’d like a float for a fundraiser (aka bake sale or club night), and make sure you give them at least 2-day notice.
They’ll be the person you coordinate any marketing with, and also they person to ask if you need any help with marketing. They help you get your A0 poster printed for the boards outside Bedlam.
The FoH Manager organises tickets for your show, so make sure you talk to them to organise run times, capacity, special drink offers in the cafe etc.
